Cancelled-2009 Mission Trip

| Because of increasing strife all along the Mexican border the Mission to Mexico board of directors voted unanimousely to post pone or cancel the trip to Mexico this Spring Break. In recent weeks the violence has spread from the Mexican border cities to the smaller crossings all along the border including Algondonis the place we would be crossing. The board learned that Recently Americans have been targeted in shootings and in kidnappings and contacts in Yuma AZ who regularly travel into Mexico have expressed grave concern. Realizing many of the students planing on the trip need to complete hours of community service for graduation, each of the participating churches is searching for projects of service closer to home that they can participate in. In the mean time the board will continue to monitor the situation. If it gets better a trip for families may be scheduled for Thanksgiving week. The board feels tremendous disappointment in this outcome and understands the frustration and disappointment it has caused with those planing on the trip.
